Social Engineering (SE) Assessment -
Social Enginering, or pretexting, is an attack that is overlooked by most companies. You could have all of your systems totally
up-to-date, the latest patches installed, a good firewall, and virtually as secure as you could possibly want your network. Your network however is only as secure as the people who have access to it. All it takes is one employee to ruin the thousands of dollars of security you implemented on your network.
Social Engineering is the art of deceiving someone into revealing information that they are not otherwised authorized to have access to. For example, an attacker might call your company posing as a customer to gain access to your customer's personal information such as an address or telephone number. Or an attacker may pose as an employee in another department and deceive your employee into giving them a login or password to your network.
